Flip is a solitaire game in the Reversi family. Moves are entered
on a 3-by-3 grid by clicking on the gadget buttons or the NUMERIC keypad.
The initial Goal is to turn off all grid buttons except the center, thus:
7 8 9
When a button is pushed it will FLIP (invert the
4 5 6
state of) itself and certain neighbours:
1 2 3
Corner buttons : flip the whole corner eg. 3 flips 2, 3, 5 & 6.
Edge buttons : flip the whole edge eg. 4 flips 1, 4 & 7.
Center button : flip the central axes i.e. 5 flips 2, 4, 5, 6 & 8
The tricky part is that only the WHITE buttons will respond - the
BLACK
buttons will ignore you! This means you cannot easily
reverse a move because each button you press turns itself off. When
you finally turn ALL 9 buttons off use the NUMERIC 0 key - this will
restart the game with a new random combination. This randomizer can
be used anytime.
Any Goal or Startup combination can be set by use of the numeric
'.' (decimal point) key. It will cycle you into the edit modes,
where every key toggles itself, and then back to normal play mode.
For the severe addict Flip will open on ANY Intuition-friendly
screen but remember to close its window before you kill the screen or
Flip will be lost and you will have to reboot to reclaim its memory.
This game is Public Domain, please distribute intact.
